So, today I want to look at the one word that really REALLY makes me want to puke.
- HATE. IT.
At least twice a week I’ll get a female client telling me that they “just want to tone.”
THIS WORD DOES NOT EXIST.
You can only make a muscle bigger or make a muscle smaller. You absolutely can’t shape, elongate or tone a muscle. You just can’t and that’s the way it is. The same goes for fat cells.
So what should you do to look tighter, leaner and less wobbly?
It’s really simple…Build muscle and lose fat.
Now before some of you ladies start to freak out…Don’t. Building muscle does NOT mean you’re going to turn into the she- hulk.
Females simply don’t have the hormonal profile to build muscles at the same rate as males. Not even close!
In fact, it’s not even that easy for males to build muscle…How many really REALLY muscly guys do you see on a daily basis?
Yet, the fact is, most women won’t get anywhere near the physique they desire, as they are simply too scared to be lifting the weights that will make a difference.
So what should you do?
Are you ready for this…?
Drum roll please…
LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS!
I dont care that so- and- so from This Morning said you can get the “butt of your dreams” by squatting up and down in the kitchen with two tins of beans and the washing basket on your head.
You need to be CHALLENGING yourself. Heavy weights with a rep range of 8-12 should be the basis of your training.
Heavy weights elevate the metabolism to a much higher degree and forces you to burn far more calories all day long than piddling around with the tiny pink dumbbells for 100’s of reps at a time.
You should be using compound movements like the squat, the bench press and the deadlift and continually challenge your body by adding more sets, reducing your rest period and INCREASING THE WEIGHT!
As always, if you have any questions at all then drop me an email on email@example.com or hit me up on social media.
