How are all your fitness goals coming along?
Are you still struggling to see results even though you feel like you’re putting a load of work in?
Sometimes the obvious is staring us right in the face, and yet we still seem to miss it.
We all know that expending more calories than we consume = weight loss.
We all know that consuming more calories than we expend = weight gain.
^^^ Don’t we? ^^^
We know that resistance training burns the most fat.
We know that if we lift weights with poor form we’re going to get injured.
We know that HIIT cardio is better for fat burning than steady state.
We know that not resting enough and not getting enough sleep leads to us feeling sore and tired.
We know that long days at work with pressure to meet deadlines leads to high stress levels.
We know that drinking alcohol slows down our fat burning potential and expands our waistline.
We know that eating processed foods is bad for both our health and our body composition.
We know that we need each of the food groups in our diet. Proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
Yet, we still seem to miss the obvious…
We still try to justify to ourselves that we have a slow metabolism.
That it’s easier for other people.
That we have poor genetics.
That people who are in amazing shape take steroids.
That we just don’t have time.
That we just can’t say no to work drinks.
That it’s always someones Birthday in the office.
That our partner won’t eat healthy food.
That nutritious food is too expensive.
That we have to have 5 coffees per day.
That supplements are too expensive.
It’s total BS.
The internet is now flooded with self proclaimed fitness gurus talking about hormones, toxins, fancy training protocols, flexible dieting, how sleep is for babies, superfoods and putting butter in your coffee.
It’s confusing, right?
KEEP THINGS SIMPLE!
The best training programmes in the world are simple.
The best nutrition programmes in the world are simple.
You don’t have to be eating a twice baked chia seed pudding with crispy kale, acai berries, activated hazelnuts, coconut oil, raw cacao, wheatgrass and a dusting of magic dust found within the forests of Narnia to be getting results.
^^^ Who knew?! ^^^
Weight loss is simple. Muscle building is simple. Getting shredded is simple. Becoming more flexible is simple. Improving your running technique is simple. Increasing your energy levels is simple. Becoming a better tennis player is simple.
DON’T OVERTHINK THINGS!
Are you ignoring the simple, obvious things that are staring you straight in the face? Are you constantly looking past them for a more complicated reason you’re not getting results?
Think about it.
PS. I’m not saying it’s EASY. Simple, but not easy.
